Amy Winehouse

I absolutely love love love the song “Valerie”. I listen to this song quite often to the point that it annoys some of my friends (sorry, not sorry). There is something about Amy’s soulful voice that is so powerful in this song. Unfortunately, she died at age 27 like some other great artists like Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Kurt Cobain.

Virgo Sun and Mercury

Amy was born on September 14, 1983, with a sun in Virgo and moon in Capricorn. I don’t have a time of birth so I will be focusing on aspects only.  Her Virgo sun conjuncts her mercury in virgo which made her perfectionist, maybe too critical of herself.

Sun and Mercury square Neptune

The sun conjunct mercury squaring neptune in sagittarius made her prone to substance abuse. Neptune is about illusion and escaping reality or can be seen as self-medicating.  I dare to say that she may have had trouble expressing herself and used music was her outlet. Neptune also rules the arts.

Venus and Mars

Venus is about fashion. Leo is about hair and attention. Her Venus and Mars were in the sign of Leo hence why her signature look was the beehive, cat eye makeup with leopard print article of clothing. She definitely got all the attention when out in public.

Ascendant

If I had to guess her rising sign (Ascendant), I would say she was Gemini. Her appearance was lanky, skinny arms, small wrists, and appeared to be to be curious of the world. In some interviews that I had seen, she appeared to not sit still which is a Gemini rising trait. Also, the Gemini rising would be fantastic because Mercury would be her ruler chart through and through.

Gone but not Forgotten

She is now placed with other great artists that left this world too early. She may be gone, but her memory and music lives on.
